Question 1

What does compatibility look at?

Accepted Answer

Sign compatibility looks at how far apart two signs are in the zodiac (the classic sign aspect: trine, sextile, square, opposition and so on) and at their elements and modalities. For two real people, the synastry tool compares both birth charts: the aspects between your Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn and theirs, weighted by planet and orb.

Question 2

How is the match percentage worked out?

Accepted Answer

The percentage comes from the sign distance: from 45% for a quincunx up to 94% for a trine, with a small fixed offset per pair so no two pairs read the same. It is a starting point; a full comparison needs both birth charts.
