The Twelve Houses

Houses divide the sky by the place and time of birth, so they need a birth time. They answer "where in life": the first house is you and how you begin things, the seventh your partners, the tenth your career and standing.

The first house begins at the Ascendant, the sign rising in the east at birth. The angular houses (1, 4, 7, 10) are the strongest, then the succedent (2, 5, 8, 11) and the cadent (3, 6, 9, 12).
